Upgrade to 50 amp service

Just a question now, but if you replaced the 30 amp power center with a 50 amp power center plus cord and TT plug, would you have to replace all the 120 wiring through out the TT..?? Both centers suppies the same 120 volt.

Just the wiring from outside plug to power distribution panel.

I think the only thing you want to do inside is try and balance the 120 volt circuits between the two new hot legs. That way, you can avoid plugging more stuff into one side of the 240V line and tripping your main breaker. You might even want to add a new recept. or two near the kit. counter so you then plug in an extra appliance.

I wonder what will happen if you are forced to land on a 30 amp site and have to use an adapter to plug in?

most 50's I've seen will run off a 30, but you have to watch what you turn on or plug in.

My 50 amp runs off 30 also when needed but with the adapter plug it automatically only runs certain things, only 1 ac will come on so far as I know

No wiring inside would need to be replaced, except the feed wire to the panel from the outside. Since you are familiar with 30AMP think of 50AMP this way 2 30AMP feeds and the panel has a left and right 30. So when to connect the internal wiring up you want to balance it between the two sides, if you had 2 A/C units you would put one on each side. That is rally all there is to it.
With the correct adapter you can run a 50AMP system off a 30AMP service (everything in you unit would work except a second A/C) you can even run off a 15 or 20 AMP home service by adding a second adapter, just keep in mind you if you turn on to many things a breaker will trip.
