Upgrading to golf cart battery question

I've purchased two 6V golf cart batteries, and am getting ready to charge them up with my battery tender. Before I attach them to the charger, is this the appropriate cable to use for my battery to battery (pos to neg) connection? Specifics of the cable: SAE J1127 SGT TYPE 2 60V & SAE J378 50V 4 GA 105* C (221* F) DRY.

Depending on your peak current draw (IE for a medium sized inverter) it should be fine. I do question the length. 32 inches is pretty long. Shorter is better.

Thanks Lou. When I was looking at them, they didn't seem all that long. 32" is much longer than I'll need, so I'll probably go back to get a shorter one. Mostly, is the 4 GA wire going to suffice for my needs? Or should I look for something heavier?

Heavier and shorter is best for lowest internal resistance.

4 GA was the only option at my local auto parts store. What GA do you recommend and where do you think I'll find it?

Allstar ALL76112 2-Gauge Battery Cable Kit : Amazon.com : Automotive

Just a quick search. You can find the cable on line in any length. I used a tree limb shear to cut the cable and a box cutter to trim back the insulation. The copper terminals are crimp on. (you can buy the tool at Lowes or Home Depot or use a machinists vice.

Ancor #2 Gauge AGW Marine Battery Cable, Red from Wholesale Marine

They have terminals as well.

Thanks again Lou! I wasn't sure if the 4 GA was going to be heavy enough (it seems to be pretty heavy), and it was the only option at the auto parts store. I'll look to the local Lowe's and buy myself a length of 2 GA wire and a few terminal ends to complete the project.
