Weird honda 2000 trick

At my last camping trip I was running my dometic 13,500 ac on fan. I shut the generator off with the fan still running. I told my wife to put the switch in off. She wasn't looking and put it in the high position.Later when i restarted the generator I noticed it was running at about 3/4 throttle. I went inside and the AC was running in the cooling mode. I did it 3 more times that week to cool the trailer off. When I got home I put an amprobe on it and saw the amps peak the same as when I started it with shore power .I would only recomend this in a pinch.I even climbed on the roof close to the ac and it did not sound strained at startup. weird

I bought a 2000eu because it was small but would run my 13K BTU AC. I added a fan delay relay and a larger starting capacitor. It works fine and does not cause me any concerns. I learned of that approach in these forums so it's not a new idea.

That said, I would use the generator for AC only rarely, e.g., when working in the trailer at the storage lot and maybe to cool the trailer for an afternoon nap. Otherwise I go camping where I have shore power or don't need AC.
