Welder electrical outlet- 50 Amp?

We are going to stay with my brothers in laws for a couple days. I asked if they happen to have 30 amp service. My brother says they have a welder outlet... When I google that it says it is 50 amp... Wonder if it is an outlet that we could plug a 50-30 amp converter into?

Does it have two 120 volt hot legs, a ground, and a NEUTRAL?

If it doesn't have a neutral, then the answer is no on using the adapter.

Ask you brother if the welder outlet has a place for either 3 or 4 prongs? If only 3, then it's not going to have a neutral and you can't use the adapter.
