What does fuse protect?

There is a 10 amp "littelfuse" plugged in to a receptical near the battery on my Rockwood model 2270 pop up camper. It has blown twice now. What does it protect?

Guess the question is what is not working when the fuse blows? when everything is working correctly, remove fuse and see what is not working.

On mine, it was what I used for a battery cutoff. I can't remember if it was 10A or 15A although I seem to remember it being 15A, but it cut all 12V to the inside. If it's a 10A and wired similarly, that's probably why it's blowing.

Things that are normally fused directly into your battery:
(Note not all these items are on a pop-up!)

Main Landing Gear (5th wheel) - will sometimes blow on full extension or retraction - Replace with auto-reset type fuse of same strength

Power Front hitch jack (Travel Trailer) - will sometimes blow on full extension or retraction - Replace with auto-reset type fuse of same strength

Main Slide Out (all types of campers if equipped) - will sometimes blow if slide is overloaded and retracted or extended - Will sometimes blow if seals are stuck to the wall (freezing rain, rain followed by low temperatures, sap, etc) - Replace with auto-reset type fuse of same strength

Trailer Brakes (if equipped) - Corroded breakaway switch can short to ground and blow fuse - MUST be repaired before use.

Anything that needs power with your master battery switch in the "OFF" position will be fused at the battery.

Some other "always on" items (even with a battery cutout switch - like your propane leak detector and clock in the radio) are fused behind the power center inside your camper and attached where the wires from (and to) the battery are connected.

Hope this helps
