What Goes Where?

I got in a hurry and forgot to take a picture of my battery hook ups on our new PUP before I removed the battery and connected it to the BatteryMinder. Duh!

Can someone please tell me which wires go where? Thanks

both reds go to positive.

black goes to negative.

the white may be either?

To be 100% sure, you need to trace back to where the wires go..... there are on + and -, but you do not want to get them on the wrong post.

The reds will be on the same post as +
The white imo could be on either.
The Black imo would be on the -

Follow the lines to where the go before putting them on.

Were they set up 2by2 wires or 3 by 1?

I would trace them too.

I have had two campers where the BLACK was positive
while the WHITE was negative.

We've had these discussions before wondering if the RV makers use household or automotive wiring color schemes.

Yep. Had a buddy fry his battery because he had the black on negative, white on positive. Glad that was the only thing that got fried. Mine is the typical red on positive, black on negative. Gotta watch it.

My take is white is negative, black and red are positive, but like others said, you need to trace back the wires to make sure.

Guessing can be real expensive. Trace them or ask the dealer.

The Reds go to the positive side the white should be on the negitive side of the battery The Black one is questional. You may have to trace it. If you have a circuit tester, you could try doing a check to see if the black wire show continunity to frame ground (with battery diconnected), if it does then black wire goes to negitive side of battery. When checking with a meter, with all wires connected except the black wire, if voltage is present on the black wire to frame ground, then the black wire again goes to negitive side of battery. NOTE: But voltage may not be present either if that circuit is turned off or swtich is off. So that is why it becomes a guessing game at times. Use you common sense if you don't know get someone whom can trace the circuit correctly if you don't have the proper tools or knowledge. Normal circuits being "hot" are Black and Red" White is negative or neutral. In an electrical panel the white and actual neutral wires are connected to a "neutral Common Bar" as the "Red and/or Black are "Hot" leads. Making the wrong choice could possibly blow a circuit damage what is on the circuit, so be comfortable with what you choose to do. Again Normal wiring would place "black wire as a "hot" side of a circuit when only Black/white wires are used. but again on camper, mfg culd also have that thick wire going to frame ground, that's why using a meter doing a continuity check, see if the black wire at the the battery area shows continuity to frame not voltage. Hope this makes some sense to you.

Check where the wires go to. One of the heavy gauge wire will be grounded on the tongue or camper frame...that will be negative on the battery connection. The other heavy gauge wire should go to an in-line circuit breaker or fuse...that will be positive on the battery. I'd suspect that the other wires also go to the positive side of the battery...if they have any in-line fuse, they go to the positive side.

Thanks for the help. I will look closer tomorrow at the wires. The PUP is a 2014 Rockwood 2560G. I knew it was serious to make sure I know where the wires connect. I feel really stupid but at least I will learn something!

The wiring in rv's are not all the same.
It just takes time. I know you can figure it out.

I call the service department at the dealership and they told me both red wires to positive and the black and white wires to negative. It worked. Thanks for the posts.
