What size generator - 2017 Rockwood 2504S

I looking to buy a portable gas generator for my 2017 Rockwood 2504S travel trailer that will handle running everything. I want make sure I purchase the right size, do you know what size I will need. Thanks for your help. I'm hoping someone here has the same trailer and knows what size works. I have searched sites and in the Forums and have not seen the answer.

As was said, there is a ton of posts/threads here that can provide you plenty of information.

But here are some basic questions :
Do you plan on using the generator in a campground?
Do you want quiet or cheap?
Do you want to run the a/c?
If so, what size is your a/c?

Seeing that you're in Sonoma County, I'm assuming that you want a generator for staying at California State Parks.
As former California residents, who primarily camped there, we got a Honda 2000i inverter generator.
We rarely needed to run the a/c so it is perfect for us.

I have a 24' HTT with a 13.5k a/c.
It will run everything at once except the a/c.
But there's no need to run the fridge and WH on generator. Run them on propane.

I have the model MiniLite 2304. I installed an Onan
2500 watt propane generator on it. Handles everything but not the A/C. I should mention that we only run one of the following at any one time:
- hair dryer
- coffee maker or
- toaster
If you're careful like above even a 2000watt will do the job.

Mike, we have the Micro Lite 25KS a twin to the Mini Lite 2503S, so its about the same size as your trailer, our Champion 3400w model 100261, inverter gen. is due to be delivered on Monday,

from the research I've done it is fully sufficient to handle our 13,500 ac, plus enough other stuff to be comfortable, its almost equal to having two of the 2000w connected in parallel,........ it has elect. start with wireless remote(that should be a very handy item) $997.77 full price, free shipping, no tax, ... there isn't an extended run system for that model YET, but Champion says they are aware of the demand for it and imply they are considering it,..... anyway you may be interested in it, ... link below to the lowest price I found......

no thank you,.....that Champion 3400w is rated at 59 dB by the company, the same as the Honda 2000w, ....... can you say that about your Honda 3000???.... so I guess these small so called "quiet" Honda's are too loud according to you????

if you mean cheap as in half the price, yes it is. But it is a by far better value than the Honda. and the noise ratings are the same

The Honda EU3000IS rated at 58db is way much better then the Champion, but the call is your buddy. Happy Trails......

He's talking about the INVERTER 3400w Champion, which is almost as quiet as the Honda 3000.

I like my Champion 2000 watt inverter generator. It is quiet. It only gets occasional use, mostly at my house, but it always starts and runs well.

I recently bought a Champion 3,500W Running/4,375W Peak portable gas generator. It only weighs 100 pounds. This is rated at 30 amps (which is what my motorhome is rated). It is rated at 68db. It is slightly louder than our Honda Inverter but it only cost us $389.00 though Costco (free freight). We have a 4000W Onan built in to the MH but when camping with the whole family, we needed an additional generator. My son can run everything in his trailer (including a/c) without any problems. The power lead from the MH plugs right into the generator. If you read the reviews, Champion is rating better than most other manufacturers (they actually make generators for a bunch of other companies) and at a better price. It has a great two year warranty. How many of the Champions can you buy for the price of one 3,500W Honda??? I know that we have about 120 hours currently on the generator and have had no problems.

that 58dB 3000/2800w Honda inverter gen. is $2,095. on Amazon,
that 59dB 3400/3100w Champion inverter gen. cost me $997.77,
by today's math, that 1dB cost $1,097.23,
by all measures that's a very expensive dB,
plus that Honda comes with LESS power(watts), 400w less start/300w less run,
again, .... no thank you, I'll take my chances with the cheapo,

I have the Champion 3100w inverter generator which I purchased at Costco for $699.00. It easily starts my 13.5k A/C and will even run the A/C and microwave at the same time (which we have done by accident a couple of times).

At campgrounds I've made a point to compare (unscientifically) my Champion to the Honda eu2000 which seems to be the most prevalent inverter generator that I see other campers with. I know the Honda is quieter according to the specs, but in my walk-around sampling it seems to me that the difference in loudness is more a fuction of positioning on the site and where you are relative to the exhaust outlet. Bottom line I can't tell tell a real-world differnce between the two while camping.

I usually reserve perimeter sites and point my exhaust away from me and others. I realize this is not always possible.

IMO the Champion 3100 is the best value going.

If you are plugging in a 30 amp trailer and want to run, as you say everything, you need at least a 3600 watt generator. 30 amp X 120 volt = 3600 watts. When the ac starts it can draw way more than the 13.5 - 14 running amps so you might want to not be running any other high resistive loads if you are running the ac. There are a lot of generators that have a rv 30 amp connector. If noise is an issue, read the specs and find one that has the lowest db and balance that with the price you want to pay.

Be sure you have enough amp power in your generator to run what you want to run. Plugged into shore power, you can go over your amp/watt draw for a few seconds, but with a generator you have what you have. Take a look the attached chart showing amp draws for various electrical items you may have in your RV.
