When hooked up with battery - no 12 volt accessories work...

When I am hooked up to shore power all my 12 volt etc accessories work. I just bought a brand new Deep Cycle battery and took my PUP out for a drycamping weekend and could not get the 12 volt lights (didn't try anything else) to work.

The converter was just replaced. Prior to replacing the converter and having a dead battery the green LP detector would light up, now it doesn't light up with a new battery. Not sure if the person who connected the converter may have missed something or it there is another issue.

Any ideas?

The first items I would look at are to make certain the battery was not hooked up in reverse and also check for a resettable breaker or inline fuse.

The battery is hooked up correctly and all fuses are okay - we tested the ends of the battery cables when hooked up to shore power and confirmed there is current all the way to the ends, just nothing happens when the battery is hooked up.

Fuses are all good - I am thinking it was something the RV guy didn't do when he changed the converter - the green LP light was working with a dead battery when only connected to the battery and ever since the converter was changed it hasn't worked......is there a wire for the battery lines that connects to the converter.....I have the WFCO 8735 - PUP is 02 Rockwood 1610

Yes the battery connects to the converter, via the main distribution panel, but must not be connected right now or everything would work. Check the battery wires at the distribution panel, Should be big gauge wires running to the 12v side of the panel, where the fuses are. Get a multimeter and check for voltage. If there is none which I suspect is true, then you will have to trace those wires all the way back to the battery and will likely find a disconnection or a fuse/breaker that need reset or replaced. Sometimes they get corroded.

In your first post, you indicated that everything works when you are on shore power. The only way that can be true is if your converter is properly connected to the "12v buss". (The lights would work if it was connected with reverse polarity, but I don't think the green led on the propane sensor would, nor the refrigerator, etc.)

You also indicated that you measured voltage between the battery wires before connecting the battery. This says there are no open fuses between the converter and the battery.

Since there is only the "12v buss", and no separate connection between the battery and the converter, the only conclusion I can come to is that the battery is bad and won't take a charge. I think you should have the battery tested (at an auto-parts store). If you have a separate charger somewhere, charge it with that.

I would also verify the proper polarity at the battery (and other places) with shore power on.
