Which converter?
Want to replace my converter with one that is 'smart' and has charging stages.
I have four 6-volt batteries. Have residential reefer, microwave, tv of course.
Which one of these (or is there a better one)? My biggest question is 'what size'? They go up to 80 amps........but I assume (?????) anything bigger than the trailer's 50 amps is enough????????
Advice requested.
PD 9260C-14.8 60 Amp RV Converter/Charger
OR?
PD 9260C 60 Amp RV Converter/Charger
OR, do I need an even bigger (larger amps) one?
Thanks!!!

What do you currently have? The amp rating on a converter has to do with how many 12v amps it produces.
If in doubt go to Best Converter and email Randy. He will help you get the best one for your needs. Great guy to deal with. I have ordered several things from him over the years. Good service and honest answers.

Thanks! I was going to contact them tomorrow and ask questions. I bought my EMS from them, good folks.
I guess I was wondering (in my ignorance) why I'd need to produce more amps than 50?

It depends on how many amps your stuff draws. Also the larger the converter the larger the battery charger up to a point.
I would let Randy point you in the right direction.

I'd go with PDI and their 90 amp charger. Keep in mind, you might need to upgrade converter to battery wire gauge depending on several factors.

If its plugged in, you are going to need a new receptacle and breaker for a 90 amp unit. In my opinion it is a waste. You will never see more than 20 or 25 amps for more than 15 minutes. 60 or 70 are fine.

Unless batteries are completely discharged and the charger goes into overdrive!
Picked up our unit from some repairs and batteries were completely dead. Once home and plugged in, my 55 amp PD pushed 45 amps for about 15 minutes then stayed above 30 amps for about an hour after that. Love that ammeter!
So it is possible- but no one tries to discharge their batteries completely.
