Why is only one receptacle reading 130V?

My wife plugged a small personal fan into a multi-outlet receptacle and that into a double outlet installed next to the bed. The breaker in the multi-outlet kicked (I believe). Tested the particular double this morning and both sockets read 130V. ALL others in the TT read within the normal range including those which I would assume are on the same circuit. Why? Recommendations?

do you have a 50A unit? if so it sounds like a bad neutral and I would unplug it until it is resolved.

Edit: What is the actual reading on the other outlets?

Is your RV a 30 amp or 50 amp type. If a 50 amp, you could possibly have different circuits in the RV being fed by a different leg of the incoming 120/240 volt split phase service, thus a little different voltage

No, it was a surge protector type although probably not a high cost one, some years old. Had been working until this incident.

might be the adapter was the problem, not your 120v service in your coach.

30 amp. I am using a camco analog. Although it may not be the most accurate, of course, the other outlets read above 120 but in the green and would agree with the surge guard on the pedestal that records 125V.

With a 30A unit and a questionable meter I would ignore the voltage differences. With 30A service there is only one hot lead and no way for any outlets to read higher then the pedestal. Of course this assumes no other power source is involved such as an inverter or generator.

Sound like just a bad outlet strip

The strip was bad, or became bad, however the anomaly was in the trailer outlet not the strip. I have since put a multi-meter on it and the outlet reads 123-124V. So I am at peace with the outlet but I find it strange that the Camco analog agrees with the multi-meter all all outlets except one. It will not keep me awake. Thanks to all for the help.

An analog meter can very some from position or electric field and maybe others
