Winter Battery Care

I pulled the battery from our trailer for winter storage. After buying a charger/tender do you keep the battery on the charger/tender the whole winter? Someone told me that they take their battery off the charger for three weeks and then put it back on the charger until it is fully charged. He repeats this process through the entire winter..Doesn't sound right to me, but I really don't know. I was under the impression, that once it is hooked up to the charger/tender it should be left that way until spring. Any info is greatly appreciated..

It is best for the battery to keep the charger tender on at all times provided it is at least a 3 stage charger/tender. The newer ones also have desulphate circuits that keep them good as new.

Thanks for the info...That's the impression I was getting from the limited directions that came with the charger/tender....wanted to make sure.

As we are doing our winterizing at the end of the season I put a 2amp charger on the battery and let it charge up for a couple hours I the disconnect it and take one of the cables off and just leave it sit I have had the same battery in our camper for 5 summed now this battery disconnect is the very last thing I do and the first thing I hook up next spring
