Winterize a onan 5500 gas generator

I would like to hear from others what they do to winterized there onboard onan generator. Do you run them dry of gas or do you just add a stabilizer to the gas. I know what the manual says about using there own cumming onan fuel stabilizer but every dealer I checked with to purchase it they don't stock it so what does others use in there gas. First year winterizing the genny. Thanks
