wiring/battery on a 1997 Forest River Flagstaff

I just bought a 97 Forest River Flagstaff and the old owner told me I could hook up /wire for a battery to run the trailer off. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the trailer is prewired or how I go about wiring it for the battery. Thanks Brad

Let's start with some simple info..... There should be a battery box somwhere near the hitch, by the propane tanks if it;'s a travel trailier, or if it's a 5'er, in the front compartments, also near the hitch. s it there? Is there anyting in it? (Like a battery!).

If it's there, with conections, then you can do some testing to see how much work this might need, but before we go on to that, find the battery box....

There is no battery box or wires that I see. I didn't know 100% where to look for them til you said by the lp tank and there's nothing there for a battery.

Aahhh... A PUP. Even easier! Look in front, behind, undeneath, along the frame rails, etc in the area of the propane tank. See if you can find two (either black and white or less likely, red and white) wires taped-up aand coverered to protect them from shorting. They may be tucked into the frame rail. You may have to crawl around under there and look around a bit... hard to tell where they may be stowed.

There may (should) also be some kind of in-line fuse on the one of the wires.

If the connection is near the inverter (inside), I would HIGHLY recommend installing a battery box on the frame, by the propane tank (where most are) and extending the wies to there. Your tow vehicle can then be wired to keep the battery charged while in transit, and more importanly, you wont have sulfuric acid fumes, however slight, (from charging the battery) entering the living space of the trailer.
