Zamp Hardwire Question

I am going to install a portable solar panel on a 2016 Rockwood 2304ks. No questions about controllers, etc but I thought I remembered something to the effect that the installed Zamp plug was wire with reverse polarity. Is this correct or is there something else I need to know before installation?

Thanks

I think they had a batch of adapters that were wired backwards.

Easiest thing to do is to stick a volt meter (VOM) on the port pins get your reading and check the panel to make sure it is wired the same way.

First I have heard of the Zamp plugs being wired backward, guess I have a little research to do..... I agree with the above statement, use a multi meter on DC voltage to check the Zamp plug and panel wiring to insure they are the same.

On my 2016 Starcraft AR-One 17RD the connector was wired with reverse polarity. I use a Renogy panel so I swapped the leads to make it work properly.

Reversed on my 2017 Roo also.

More than likely on purpose in an attempt to get you to buy Zamp's overpriced equipment. I am sure more people than most attempt to use that port with less expensive setups ( which some are every bit as good with some better) and find that "something isn't working". Then they call the RV dealer who tells them you have to use Zamp's equipment and "by the way we have it in stock" for $450 ($320 or so on Ebay) for a 40 amp system. Forest River most likely gets some type of kickback from Zamp, and as far as that go's Furrion for the backup camera mounts, for doing the pre-wire and using the mounts / ports.

I couldn't justify the expense of the Zamp system. I ended up with a system that was every bit as good... 120 watt with controller for under $200.

Interesting... My Concord came with the Furrion port. I purchased the adapter cable from Zamp and use my Renogy Suitcase setup.

I did find the Furrion plugs after the fact for a quite a bit less than what Zamp wants for their adapter cord, live and learn!

Also, at least with the Furrion port, it can be used as a 12 volt port to power things too.

It's been a while since I purchased my setup... I looked it up a few minutes ago.
It was actually 100 watts with controller and cables for $184. I ended up purchasing some of the waterproof connectors to make my hookups.
They are selling the same setup now for a bit more... And it comes with a different controller. Like yours, mine came with an extra 12 volt setup to run things live. The new setup only goes to the battery.
