I bought a 2006 Cherokee 23DD last year used in good shape. I noticed the brakes were not up to par on the few trips I towed it. Even with my settings maxed out on my controller, if I slide the manual engagement it doesn't brake that hard. I want to remedy this before the season starts.
I took off one of the wheels and drums and it looks like there is some pad left, however the magnet appears worn. The top wear hole on the magnet is completely worn down and flush. I didn't take the others off, but could I assume this is the likely culprit and would it be more cost effective to replace pads/magnets, or replace the entire assembly?
Also, how can I tell what parts I need. The placard on the outside of the trailer is pretty weathered, but I am assuming I have 3500 lb axles? I measured the drum and its 10", the pads are 2 1/4". Theres no make of axle anywhere that I can find.
Heres a photo of the placard, and I think the 3500 is the axle if I am not mistaken.
