2nd Axle Bearing Failure (Moved From Another Thread)
I am sitting in North Little Rock with my now second bearing failure with flames coming out around the brake drum. One last Oct and second one today 9-1-14. I am very concerned about Lippert axles.

Big time bummer !!!
Just curious: Had you checked the grease ?? Also, were the hubs running hotter than the others at your last stop ?? How old is your trailer, and how many miles on it ?? Inquiring minds want to know.
That type of information can be useful for other members (me included ).

Lippert axles
Our Lacrosse 301RLS is 3 1/2 yrs old. Our second Lippert Axle that just burnt up was packed 10 months ago. This one has taken 2 1/2 weeks to get to Camping World from Lippert. I just don't have much confidence in Lippert or their axles at this point. Lippert told me by phone that they don't consider lubing the bearings by the grease fitting in the end as "maintenance" for the bearings. So one has to wonder why they have the grease fitting there. Still confused on this wheel bearing issue.

Lippert vs Dexter
We recently lost a wheel bearing on a Lippert Axle, 2 1/2 years old, bearings clenaed, inspected and greased jusy 4 months ago befor journey to Alaska. Now have the original Lippert Axles and four new Dexter Brake Assy's...The Factory has switched to Dexter Axle's and Brakes on some models I understand..

This is true my 2014 325res has the Dexter Axles hope they are as good as advertised. I still do the old touch test every time I stop I check every tire and hub on both the 5ver and the Truck.

I have a 365 saq and just had my axles swapped out. I had alko and fr just put on dexter axles. I think dexter are better axles. I know that they have better brakes.

You can bet your last dollar that it will never be lippert's fault if you have a failure with bearings or brake hubs. I found on my first bearing inspection ( trailer 1 year old) 3 out 0f 4 outer race turning in the hub, of course Lippert said it was my fault I was late two months on my inspection. They can kiss my grits.

Yes I have had my time of burnt bearings also on alco Lippert axels.. I now replace inner and outer bearings on both axels every spring. Hand packing is the best. As a full timer I tend to travel, and lubing via the grease zert will only keep me happy spring to fall (most miles). Last year I replaced all bearings and bearing races. If your pressing grease through the zert and the grease drips out (don't hold together). Your bearing are bad.

Is that grease in the photo the one to use?
