Adjusting brakes..what tool?
Usually my mechanic checks the brakes, but i wanted to try it myself. I've adjusted auto drum brakes before so I know the process. I have a large selection of tools. But I don't have anything that'll work here to reach into the adjuster. what am I missing?? My old spoon adjuster hits the axles.

Just the ones I could lay my hands on quickly. Have at least that many more in various other hiding places.

I only have about 5/8" from the axle to the back of the drum. OC, I have a spoon like the third one from the left. It won't fit, not even close. I think I'm gonna have to custom make one. Heck it's even tough getting the plug out!

Gonna get one or make one. I don't want to muck up the one I have.

1/8 x 3/4 steel strip will work if you sharpen the end a little.

The auto parts store suggested an offset screwdriver. I have plenty of those.

Ok. I made a tool from a paint can opener. Now I can't remember which way to turn the adjuster. Would someone give me a clue? Is it different between right and left sides?

Dang YouTube videos waste a lot of time with music and fluff. I'm still not sure.

Ok. Just got my third one done. I stuck my home made tool in and pried down. That rotated the star up. I've said it many times, things are hard once.

The RV Doctor: Electric Trailer Brake Maintenance
Turn the star in a clock wise direction or pry down.

DONE. It took me longer to type in that last message that it did to adjust that last brake. I haven't adjusted brakes since my 72 beetle or my 68 Dodge Dart.
Thanks everyone!!
