After-Market 6-point chassis question
I own a Wildwood 356QBQ 5er. It is about 42 ft. length and weighs about 13,000 lbs.
I was told at purchase it isn't a good idea to add an after-market leveling system to this model, because it will "flex the frame" too much and this chassis isn't designed for that. I certainly don't want to damage the chassis.
However, what is the difference between a 6-point leveling system keeping the rig level versus the current 4-point system (two landing legs on front and an electric scissor jacks on rear)? After all, this puts strain on the front and rear and theoretically "bows" the middle section of the coach, except that the wheels in the middle somewhat support the middle.
What then would be the difference between putting 6 hydraulic jacks on the rig and essentially evening out the dynamic stresses on the frame that way instead of the way it is now?
In short, has anyone had any experience with a retrofit of this type, especially I am wondering experiences from owners with trailers similar to mine? I am thinking Lippert or Bigfoot...
Thanks much
