Axles

Just an FYI;
The Sterling Group acquired Dexter Axle from Tomkins Industries, Inc.It also acquired AL-KO Vehicle Technology and formed DexKo Global, Inc. So, yes, it is under the same umbrella.

We live in Wisconsin and the camper was previously titled in Washington, so we don't know how many miles are on the camper when we bought it.

We have a trip to Mount Rushmore/Black Hills planned for this summer so i was thinking about having the bearings serviced. I talked to a local equipment trailer dealer who I trust and have bought trailers from. He said $250 to disassemble, clean up, inspect (bearings, races, spindles, brakes) pack bearings and reassemble. He said that he stocks all replacement parts that could be needed, if any.

Would I be having unnecessary work done? Does anyone know what the recommended service interval is with Alko axles? Any recommendations?
Well, having had our share of problems with 3500 pound alko axles, I would say YES. GET AN ACTUALLY EXPERIENCED TRAILER SHOP TO DO THAT. That would be the only way to be sure it was been done. Saying they checked that in a multipoint inspection IS NOT THE SAME as saying that a $250 repact, plus needed parts was done. JUST GET EM DONE. Be safe not sorry.
