Aluminum vs Steel Wheels

We had a sudden blowout on one tire and 1,000 miles later noticed the other same side failed. I should have replaced both tires on that side when it happened; cost me 8 hrs of vacation. First tire failure in 15 years.
Question is: do Aluminum rims dissipate heat better than steel wheels or is this a salesperson trying to sell me new wheels?

That looks bad, I'd be curious to know if aluminum transfers heat better than steel....waiting on the experts.

If your interested in 6 lug aluminum wheels w/ 225-75, 15 inch tires please send me a PM.

The difference in heat dissapation between steel and aluminum is negligible. The main reason trailer manufacturers rig with aluminum is un-laden weight. Weigh four 16" aluminum wheels vs four 16" steel wheels and see the difference. Then the manufacturers can take that weight difference and add another component, etc.

Aluminum sells better... If it didn't you would have never seen an aluminum wheel on anything. It's much easier to shape and make appealing to the eye than steel. It's always all about the money...

Agree with this...aluminum looks far nicer (usually) and is therefore what "the people" want. Same reason most RV's are sided in fiberglass rather than aluminum (which weighs far less).
