Another LCI Level Up Issue and Fix

Just throwing this one in the mix since I haven't seen this problem addressed. Maybe it will help someone.

Went to Willow Tree this weekend. Got there around 2:00 Friday afternoon in the pouring rain. Went to drop the front landing gear and the LCI Level Up control panel read "Comm Error Check Wiring". The controller would not turn on or anything. It just had that written across the screen. I checked every wire I could find. I made sure the batteries were strong and both the truck power and shore power were plugged in. I Googled the problem but couldn't find anything. So I punted and left Willow Tree and headed to the nearby RV Outlet about 5-6 miles away.

RV Outlet service department is slammed with work. So much so that they aren't accepting service work on RVs not sold by them. But I have bought two RVs from them and the fact it was raining so hard, one of the guys gave me a little bit of his time. Again, we tried everything from disconnecting the batteries to running through all the wiring. Still no help.

Supposedly down in lower Myrtle Beach at Camping Connection, they are an LCI service center. The guy at RV Outlet gave me their number and I was walking to my truck getting ready to call them and head south when the guy came out with a new control panel. He found one left in stock and he figured we could at least swap them out. He did and the system worked perfectly.

So three points to add to help out here just to share.

1. "Comm Error Check Wiring" means your control panel has quit working. It will fool you because most folks would probably think a broken control panel shouldn't be able to have anything written across its screen.

2. If you're ever in Myrtle Beach, SC, Kissimee, Fl, or central Tx. and you ever have an LCI problem, look for Camping Connection. We're going to Ocean Lakes Thursday and I plan to take my old control panel to them to see if there's anything they can do to repair it. At $200, it would be nice to have a back-up because without it, the system is useless.

3. LCI has an app called MyLCI. A free app with tons of helpful troubleshooting and other help on all their LCI stuff. Good to have just in case.
