If you're looking to take a bite out of the cost, you might check your local 4X4 shop--they might have a set of "take offs" from a Jeep or lifted truck (that they needed to put longer shocks on) and now they have the stock ones ready to go out to the dumpster. You wouldn't need long travel shocks, as I doubt the axle assemblies on our TTs flex that much, but I'm interested in hearing how you're going to mount them--are you planning on welding a bolt/mount to the axle and another to the frame?
As for handling/minimizing sway and bouncing, that I can't say either way. But good luck, let us know how it turns out.
