ATTN.. 2012 2904SS owners
I guess I got lucky in noticing this defect so late in my travels...
From MS to NC and then NC to AZ.
The bracket to the slide out was cutting into my tire when hitting bumps in the road.
The only damage I can see is to the tread to the tire, it doesn't appear to have cut into the actual tire.
I've looked all around the walls of the slide out and the walls around the slide out and I can't see any stress cracks from the upward force of the tire pushing on the bracket.
Being I'm in AZ and not sure who to contact since my dealer is in MS, I took a hack saw and sawed off the corner and then filed it smooth.
I'll inspect the tire better when I get ready to leave again.
Nothing else, I'll put the spare on in this tires place and use it as a spare.
But I think FR owes me a tire.

Since I'm getting ready to hit the road to head back east and have not received a response back from FR.
So for the archives and documentation....
I'm posting some more images of "my solution" to the problem.
I've filled smooth and rounded off more of the edges to the bracket.
I think the tire is OK, looks to mainly have rubbed down to the tread wear marks and chipped off parts of the tread.

Well, so far I made it from Tucson AZ to Las Cruces NM.
My solution to FR's design flaw seems to be OK.
There is still not much room for axle /tire movement.
After arriving in LC, it looks as if there was some tire rub on the "L" part of the bracket.
I think I'm going to put on the spare for my trip on into TX

These 2 pics where taken before leaving Las Cruces heading towards Odessa / Midland TX
After checking at each stop, I can tell that the tire still was making contact with the bracket, but it doesn't appear to be doing any more damage to the tire.
Here is my set up at a rest stop near Monahans TX with 4 loose links on the Reese WDH
verses 3 loose links at Texas Canyon AZ

I'd say the trailer needs a 1-1 1/2" lift for proper clearance, this would be the most cost effective repair. It looks like the trailer has torsion axles,so the factory could have the axles replaced with ones with a different clocking to raise the trailer slightly.

WOW!
I'll be sure and not hold my breath waiting on FR to do that to fix their mistake.
With my luck, they would suggest that I go down to 13" tires.
BTW... I did buy the 2nd year warranty.
If that even matters.
Warranties are like coupons, there is always a "catch"!

Nope, while in AZ I sent an email to FR, with no response.
I was only in Tucson for 2 weeks and I found the problem at the beginning of the 2nd week when going to a better campground on the south east side of town.

Looks like they need to move the bracket you cut on inboard towards the bell slide adjuster then reweld. Youroo!!

Well after living out of this camper in NC from August 19 2012 to April 5 2013, then towing it from NC to Tucson AZ, and now slowly heading back across the desert to central TX.
I'm in hopes I can put my camping days behind me and trade both the truck and camper in for a new 4 door, 4x4 truck.
Don't get me wrong, this trip across the southern parts of the US , while hiking and mtn biking at as many trails as possible has been the greatest adventure.
I'm just ready to "set some roots" in central TX.

Having been to (Lazy Days) our take on campgrounds around Tucson,or for that matter, any campgrounds we have ever been,(Lazy Days) in Tucson is the (BEST)! By the way your dealer whoever it may be will in your case, will call F/R,send PICs. and Wait for Fac.authorization to repair the unit. Youroo!!

The email you sent was the Forest River Owners Group. Try sending am email to Douglas Fought ( dfought@forestriverinc.com) as he's the warranty contact for Rockwood.

Well here is FR's answer....
"So it looks like you have already cut the corner off of that bracket to fix the problem. Have you already replaced that tire as well?"
***** Beiler
Warranty Administrator
My reply.....
I had to cut the bracket due to being on the road from in AZ.
But the tire is still making contact with the bracket and also the threaded bolt.
No I have not replaced the tire.
Is FR going to cover the cost of replacing the tire?
