Axle issues

I just had my 2014 Rockwood Signature Ultralight Diamond Edition 5th Wheel trailer in the trailer shop to check for uneven tread wear on one of the tires. Ended up having a bent axle. Going to upgrade from 4k axel to 6k axles. Any one else have this problem. I've only put about 4500 miles on trailer.

The day I picked up my trailer I noticed the axle had no camber and the dealer agreed to replace the axle, (dealing with the dealer's service center caused me to age a year).

The replacement axle was no better. I called FR and they were no help. I called Lippert and they agreed to send me a 4400 # axle to replace my 3500 # axle. They made a mistake and sent me another 3500 #. So third axle and the same issue. Contacted Lippert again and they sent the 4400 #. No issue with the 4400.

The tires that came with the trailer could not handle the weight. One wore on the inside because it was tilted in at the top. The other tire that was riding pretty much in line wore on both the inside and the outside. I know someone will say that is from under inflation, but that is absolutely not the case here. I am sure the tire just could not hold the weight and the center of the tire caved in going down the road.

I replaced those C rated tires with D rated radial tires. That trailer pulls so much better. The difference is very noticeable.

I will be replacing my springs with 4000 # springs as well.

And by the way, the trailer is not overloaded. The gross weight is 3900 #, (plus a few) and I am well below that. The original axle had no camber with nothing in the trailer.

Seems to be a problem Lippert has with their chinese products. We are still awaiting a resolution to our problem, alignment, bent axles what ever. Lippert is doing a very good job of stalling.;

Good luck

Caused me to look... 2 @ 4400# vs: 9650 advertised gross leaves 850 pin weight. Eventually I must investigate/weigh up

Unless you grossly mis-load your trailer, you should never have a problem with the 4,400 axles. That gives you 8,800 lbs. If the GVWR is 9,650, you would have to drop below 9% tongue weight to start overloading the axles.
