Axle Alignment-Offset

Picked up my trailer last week that had just had an axle upgrade completed. Interesting to note that the technician advised me that they had offset one side of the axle alignment back by 1/16 inch to compensate for "road crown" on the highway. Found that unusual as I suspect that all trailers would likely come with a factory install with no compensation in the alignment ? Anyone else come across this ?

Huh ?? Never heard of such a thing.

What if you decide to travel in the passing lane where the crown is opposite ??

To my knowledge caster and camber is built into the spindle.
Moving the axle would result in severe tire wear.

Not so sure the tech knows what he's talking about.

I don't know...lol. First I heard of it too. I guess I will have to make sure I spend most of my time out of the passing lane. (sigh). I questioned him on it and he advised it was pretty standard for their shop. Seems like they are in the "trailer manufacturing" industry so I assume there must be some merit to this?

This is the company that did the work

Saturn Industries - Manitoba's only full service rigging shop and custom trailer manufacturer

Don't think I am going to ask them to change it back to perfect 90 degree to hitch as I am sure they will want money to change it, and he sounded pretty convincing that this practice was standard for all their trailer builds.
He suggested the compensation would vary based on the length of the trailer.
