Axle Shackles

Check those axles especially the shackles. I have talked to a lot of people about inspecting their axles and a lot do not. I was guilty of that myself until one day I looked at my shackle straps. They were almost totally worn through which is scary to think about what might have happened if one broke. It only took me 2 hours to replace them and only $30 dollars worth parts.

And if the shackles are wore the bolts probably are too. The equilizer bushing and bolt should also be checked for play.

Ur right, we should check them yearly. I do this after dewinterizing. Last year I put in wet bolts which helps reduce with the bushing wear and noise
