Question Axles making a popping noise

Hi All!
Newbie here - just picked up our first TT last Thursday - a 2014 Evo 1850 and we are in love! Just getting used to all the noises it makes. While setting it up for storing today, after camping for 3 nights, the trailer made popping noises that sounded like they were coming from the axles, while we were extending the tongue jack to level the trailer. The tires were chocked but were not sitting on anything since our storage area is leveled cement and the trailer was already unhitched from the TV. I wasn't able to find too much info on this online so I'm hoping you all will have some advice as to whether or not this is normal? Thanks in advance!
Carla

I made the mistake once (and only once), of forgetting my rear stabilizers were down, while using the electric tongue jack to raise my trailer to hook to my tow vehicle.

The popping sounds I heard were my stabilizers bending.

Luckily, the reason I was hooking up the trailer in the first place, was to take it to the dealer for a warranty job, and to get some slide toppers installed. They went ahead and fixed my "now" bent stabilizers while it was there too.

Had you lowered your rear stabilizers by any chance before extending your tongue jack?

The popping noises you heard were most likely just the axles "adjusting" to the raising/ lowering of the tongue. Especially if you were turning while backing in, the axles may have been a bit of a "bind". If, this is case, there is nothing to be concerned with.

Thanks for the input! Thankfully, the stabilizer jacks we saved for the last task so it wasn't them. We did back up into the space so hopefully the issue was the axles being in a "bind" -- does that mean after backing up we should go forward and back in a straight line to release them?

I don't think it would be necessary, unless you can actually see that the wheels are cambered against each other, but it would help relieve any stress that may be on them, especially if you are parking on a hard surface. Gravel will tend to move under the tire, which helps also.

If you have springs, you might squirt a little oil on the shackles and walking beam.

Chances are you will pull forward then back up to finish positioning the trailer. Kind of corrects itself. Yea, these things make lots of noises. I actually get worried if I don't hear any noises!
