Beefed up my 3500 lb axles
I have a 2010 tracer 300bhd, from the start i had problems with the tires hitting the wheel wells. My axles are over slung so I can not flip them. Last year i replaced the back axle because it was bent, this year my front axle started to bend, so I replaced my 2 3/8 axle tubes with 3" by 1/4" thick walled tubes, also replaced my 1750 springs
with 2400 lb springs, and replaced the shackles and installed wet bolts. now my trailer sits about 3/4" higher and with little stiffer springs and the extra height from the axle tubes my tires don't hit any more.
My bearings are rated for 4400 lbs, and my tires are 14" d rated 2040 per tire, neither one gave me any problems! Got some good help and info from lippert, and axle inc. I really think this trailer was designed with under sized axles! I believe newer models of this size trailer have 3" tubes, I think there at least 4400 lb rated axles.
