BF Goodrich rugged Terrain T/A

LT285/75/R16 's on a Suburban 2500..

Anyone on here tow with these tires, they look a bit over aggressive but look pretty good... 'E' rating seem to be enough for my application however I really won't know until I get trailer to a scale..

Rated at max load of 3750, up to 80 psi cold...

Truck calls for lt245/75r16e...

Truck gvwr is 8600/3901
Gawr 4250/1928 front
6000/2722 rear

Towing 9000lbs (loaded) trailer with 900lbs tongue..

Probably equalizer hitch...

They are less aggressive than the BFG All Terrain T/As which I had my Power Wagon for over 6 years/60,000 miles. I was very happy with the on road performance and towing of the AT T/As, so they should be at least as good and probably better on the highway and OK for light off-road use. The only reason I switched to the KM2s was that I needed better off road performance.

I've got the rugged terrains and have been happy with them. Most of my driving is on paved roads but I do like dirt roads and some trails. I'm not into mudding but I've been through a few deep puddles on very poor dirt trails and they did fine. These tires really helped stiffen the ride when towing. My previous tires (Wrangler ATS)had alot of sidewall give which I could feel when towing. The only thing I've not been happy with is they like to pick small gravel from gravel roads.

IMO, aggressive tread tires are noisier than "road" tires and get slightly worse gas mileage due to to higher rolling friction (that higher friction makes them great if you get stuck in wet grass (or GFB MUD ).

Thanks for the input, I thinks these will be the tires... Makes it look more like a truck than the other Suburban we have, that is mainly a grocery getter.. Want them to have their own personalities...

The weight ratings on them definitely in line with my expectations for towing...

You shoud be pretty happy with them, Dodge trucks come std with those. I ran a set of LT 265/70 17 LRE on my old Quad cab 1500 and they came std on our 08 Ram 2500 megacab 4x4.They last forever although don't think for a minute they are good in mud or anyting as they are really an on road tire and my mileage was abt 1 mpg better with them than the more agressive Hankook Dyna Pro AT/M's I just put on as we live out in the country and battle large snow drifts and mud as part of our everyday traveling. They are very stable though. You should get many miles out of them.

IMO that is not an aggressive tire. They are standard equipment on a lot of F150s. I've towed all over the country with that tire and it works great. They last forever. I got 70K miles out of mine.

The Rugged Terrains came out in May/June of 2011. You may be confusing them with the Long Trail or Rugged Trails. BFG was looking for something a little more aggressive than these two, but not as aggressive as the TA/KO's, hence the Rugged Terrains.
