Bubble in tire

While doing some mods to the camper, I can't leave well enough alone, I decided to move the camper forward to better access the ladder. That's meant that the tires covers had to come off. I found this on one of the tires. They are the dreaded China tires and after seeing so much discussion about them blowing, I have been keeping an eye on them. Long story about DH wanting to save money, well we know how that story goes. More tires have been ordered.

The tire is coming apart and must be replaced immediately. Do not drive on it except to the tire shop. I would inspect the other tires as well. I found a blister on the edge of the tread on one tire while traveling years ago and decided to check the other tires. Two more were also starting to fail. I had them all replaced. Fortunately, they were fully warranted, so there was minimal out-of-pocket expense.

That would have been very easy to overlook. I'm glad you saw it, or it could have came completely apart going down the highway. That would have been tragic.

I'm going to go over ours on a regular basis.

Thanks for posting this, especially the picture of the location.

Nothing can spoil your trip like a blowout, tire separation, flat, etc. headed down the road at 65 mph, especially on a two-lane highway with no shoulder. And yes - that IS the voice of experience.

Before each hook-up now, I check the pressure in each tire and visually inspect them. We carry a small, pancake air compressor so we always leave home or a campground with the exact pressure.

My suggestion is to go up on load range if possible. More of a safety cushion.
