Calling Tire Experts.. Westlake Speed Rating

I have always treated my tires as a 65mph speed rating but I figured I'd see what they were since I have NOT every actually looked.. So this is for curiosity, not wanting to go 85 on the freeway

Anyways.. They are Westlake ST205/75r14
I did not see a speed rating.. Unless that is what that R meant..
No other data other than the bellow:

"Made in China MLR05"
"load range C"
Max load 1760 @ 50psi
tread 2 ply polyester 2 steel plies, one nylon
Sidewalls 2 polyester plies
DOT JUJT YCT (3613)

Thanks!

My Sabre, when new came with the Westlake tires (load range E) and I got rid of them as fast as possible. Sold them to a local farmer who put them on a haywagon. Didn't want to run the risk of the "china bombs" and yes the Goodyear Marathons are made in China that I put on but I'll take my chances with them. No issues in a year and a half. Anyway--I would treat your Westlake's as a max speed of 65.

I had Westlake tires on my Cedar Creek and they seemed like good tires to me. I put maybe 10,000 miles on the tires, I made a round trip from NC to Yellowstone and had no problems. I drive mostly 63 but there were times that I ran 80. It was a 3 week trip, so sometimes I had to ride.

The reference below shows how the speed ratings will be displayed on the ST tires from over there. The letter "L" following the service description (113/108) is the speed letter for 75 MPH.

Currently any ST tires without a speed letter on their sidewall have a maximum speed rating of 65 MPH. Probably by the end of this year that will be upped to 81 MPH. I have not seen a start date for the implementation of the new TRA standard of 81 MPH for ST tires.

My Carlisle LRD tires on my Rockwood I replaced my Chinabombs with, are speed rated up to 87mph "N" rating. Not that I'd go that fast, it's just nice to know I'm not always at the max.

My son in law has a toyhauler with st235 80R16 Westlakes, and the speed rating is clearly marked as 75 mph. I realize that information is probably irrelevant due to different size, but...they are westlakes. fwiw

PS; I did chuckle at Kenny's comment.... nice to have good friends huh?

Yes with friends like him.. I need no enemies! LOL

Seeing a post about 75mph Westlakes is actually what made me think what they actually were rated at. Thank you.

Same wheels and tires on my 2015 Windjammer, had a very slow leak that was finally found to be a small pinhole along the seam where the two halves are joined together. Replaced by wheel manufacturer.
