Check valve stems

Our 2014 Salem 26TBUD had a tire with low air pressure. When filling it, the valve stem nearly broke off in my hand. Checked the other tires and all of the stems were cracked. This could have been a catastrophe if they failed on the highway. Had to take all to a tire shop for replacement. Check your valve stems in advance of your next trip.

Good tip! Curious, are you in an area of high U/V such as AZ?

Also another tip along this line is to be careful of petroleum distillate tire/wheel cleaners you use, as they are bad about ruining the rubber valve stems.

Good Advice right there. A lot of times we don't think about the little things that are affected by products we intend for something else.

When a person finds something that appears defective to them, the best place to start a search is in the NHTSA recall data base.

This is an older document I have in my document files but it's still got some good information about valve stems in it.

Recall of faulty tire valve stems expanded
