Check your springs asap!!! Safety alert!!!!
Forest River installed the wrong springs on my NEW Sabre 33 RETS.
Just over 1000 miles and stranded on the road. 600 miles from home on our 1st big trip. 3 Broken springs.
No the trailer was not abused on rough roads. If anything it was babied.
The professional trailer dealer that did the repairs had the original springs (new) that were installed in stock. Same part numbers.
They are rated at 2400 lbs. 2400 x 4 wheels = 9600 lbs total weight.
Dry trailer weight is 10623 lbs. All ready over weight out the door of the factory.
Larger springs have been installed.
Great quality control and engineering. This could have killed me.
Now to deal with Forest River for reimbursement.

Forst River buys the frames and axles from another company, you should check and make sure the frame is the right one too, also report this to the DOT. there product should be safe to operate on our highways without coming apart.

Sorry to hear of that. This is the way that it works for axles, at least...
Your springs may or may not have been overweight- the trailer has generally 15-25% of its weight carried by the truck/pin weight. Still very close to max and possibly over depending on your GVWR, but by dry weights the springs were likely sufficient.

The springs are correct most likely.
As ependydad said your truck and pin carries the additional weight not covered by the springs.
Looks like three things.
The springs were defective.
You hit something.
Your trailer is over loaded.
Sabre doesn't install the springs they purchase the frames n axles with springs installed from lci, sounds like an lci issue not sabre.
Your rets should have 6000# axles for 12, 000# and your hitch weight should be around 1900#
As a side note sabre uses nothing less than a 3000# spring in there units "total of 6000# axle".
7000# in there bigger units.

Well I wish you good luck with whomever you have to deal with. I had a problem with the shocks that were on my 5er and had everything repaired by the dealer. I had to replace the 5er's tires as two were compromised by the hangers rubbing on the tires and making a groove in them. The tires are Michelin Ribs, so not cheap. Anyway nobody at FR would do anything because the work was done before contacting them. Pictures were provided but no deal. The springs were taken off and the hangers ground off as they weren't needed to begin with according to FR.

Dear Members,
Sabre was notified of this by the selling dealer on Thursday, November 14th. Our warranty department in conjunction with Lippert are gathering information. Including getting the bent springs back to be tested. I apologize for the problem.

Those springs and shackles look to be in bad shape (rusted) for being on a new unit. Mine were 2yrs old with 6k miles when replaced and they didn't look nearly that bad. Also, OP states that his "dry weight" was 10,623, which would leave nothing for cargo, unless he is confusing "dry weight" with gross weight, but the number does sound like a dry weight. If that's the case, I wonder is dealer didn't pull a swap.

Correct the rets is a -6 model for 6k axles.
As I said before.
Lci installed the wrong spring.
Unit is over loaded.
Or something was hit.
