Couple question

So I just bought this tire Monitor system and I need to set warnings on to high of tire pressure and tire temperatures. So my question is how hot do normal trailer tire get when towing. My other questions is have any you guys ever change out your 5 gallon tanks to something bigger? If so do you have to do lot of modifications?

The site team can sense your frustration with not having any responses to your “Couple question” thread in the Sandstorm sub-forum. It might be that no one is active in the Sandstorm world this week. But it could be that your question “how hot do normal trailer tire get when towing?” is too general. It seems to be equivalent to “how hot does it get in September?”. Where? How hot does the ambient temperature get where you tow? There is no single answer to these questions. I’ve seen a max of 75 degrees on my TPMS on some trips and I’ve seen 115 degrees on my TPMS in south central Oklahoma in August.
My TPMS documentation gave me a recommended high temp setting.

My instruction sheet from TST had parameters for setting high temp.

I have a TST RV507 system and memory tells me my external sensors temp readings have been as high as 130 deg... that is memory. I think I have them set at 165 for temp alarm.

The alarm pressure is normally set at 20% above cold inflation pressure.

I just used the default on my TST brand system. I'm guessing you are looking for the max temp differential over ambient temp. Sounds like Iwannacamp gave you a good start, I have yet to use my monitor dynamically.

A lot depends on the ambient temperature. At 80°F my TT tires will run around 110-112°F on blacktop. At 90°F they will run 117-120°F on blacktop. On concrete they will run 3-5°F cooler than blacktop. They run very close to my TV tire temps.

Your temps may vary.

Today I ran home from an outing and checked the wheel bearing temp after going a few hundred miles in 80 degree weather on dry pavement. Decided to check the tire temp too just for fun and they were all about the same 112 degrees.

I agree location, ambient temps/weather can be a HUGE factor.

I have an infrared thermometer that I use and last trip I seen temps around 115º.
Two weeks before that, temps were at 95º. Both readings were very close to TPMS readings.
