Dexter axle grease caps

Had an AL-KO axle (3500#) replaced at CW. The replacement is a Dexter easy lube. To make a long story short, the grease caps will not stay on while traveling. One came off and busted the wheel cover (hub cap).
Anyone else having this problem?

No I have many miles on the Easy lube axles without this problem. Are you talking about the whole grease cap or only the black rubber cover for the grease zerk in the cap. If they are coming out you have gotten too much grease in the slot where the cap is taped into the axle. I would clean the cap and the slot on the axle that the cap is taped into. If that does not work try a couple of dabs of red grease seal adhesive.

Someone may have removed it at one time and bent it.....my dealer sells them for $.90 a piece.....they're easy to dent installing, so I made a special tool to install them.......also, if one took them to a bench grinder and beveled the lip that fits into hub, it'd be easier to start them into hub straight The tool I made was to take a hole saw the size of cap at the ridge that sits against hub, when installed, bored a hole in a short piece of 2x4, then cut another short 2x4 piece to use against piece with hole and act as a surface to tap the cap in and not split the piece with the hole
