Dexter Never Adjust Brakes

I was shopping around for replacement parts to do a brake job on my trailer. One of the shops I spoke with said I should consider getting away from Dexter Never Adjust brakes and install the standard Dexter adjustable set. He claimed they usually recommend this because the brakes are always a little too tight on the Never Adjust brakes and have a tendency to wear out sooner. Not a lot of cost difference. My boat trailer has regular brakes that seem to be fine other than an occasional adjustment. This is my first set of Never Adjust so I really have nothing to go by. I would appreciate any opinions or input anyone may have. Thank you in advance.

I have forward self adjusting brakes on my 2011 vcross that I am very happy with. I have put about 50,000 miles on the trailer and they are just now getting worn to the point that I am planning to replace them. I had a wheel bearing failure on my last trip so I am going to replace the whole assembly (brakes, bearings hubs). Replacing the brakes as an assembly isn’t much more expensive and it is a whole lot easier. The only reason self adjusting brakes wear out faster is because regular brakes don’t always get adjusted when they should.
