Discount Tire has an eBay store also. I just got 4 Maxxis tires from there a month ago, and it was even a better deal than their website.

Wow. That's great. I actually called them last year to ask about a local dealer and they didn't say anything about being able to order directly from them! Oh well. I make a trip to Gananoque 3 times a year to visit relatives and I just hop across the border to Wellesley Island while I'm there to pickup my orders from U.S. companies with free shipping.

Yep, I saw that they had a $100 coupon on Ebay for a while, but it ended on March 16. I missed that option by 10 days. I had been to their website, but never thought to look on Ebay for new tires. ugh. I hate losing the opportunity to save a Benjamin.

I'm interested to know how many folks replacing their tires also replaced the spare.
My spare is entirely unused (and covered to protect from the sun), BUT I'm not sure that if I do get a flat on one of the new tires that I'd be comfortable running with 3 D-rated tires at 65psi, and one C-rated tire at 50psi ... just doesn't seem right.
Any thoughts ?

I will be replacing all 5 early next month since I'm upgrading from LR-C to Maxxis M8008 LR-D tires. I'll also be using bolt-on valve stems on all 5 wheels.

Another happy camper with Discount Direct. Ordered the E rated Maxxis 225 75 15 received in two days. Mine were a little older, one was 10 months, 1 seven and the other two 6. I also ask for the newest and was told they would try. Mine were shipped out of Ohio. Can't cry and they're new enough. They threw in 4 short metal stems, very happy. Use balancing beads for balancing tires as I have on three previous units and in my current TV. The beads work great just make sure you use the composite ceramic beads not glass or metal.

Tell me about these balancing beads. I've heard of them, but know almost nothing. Where do you get them? How do you install them?

The reference provided below provides a wealth of useful information ablaut the use of ST tires. It includes numerous established tire industry standards from a respected tire manufacturer.

Google "Tire Balancing Beads from Checker Flag". They have a U tube that's very good as well. I've had good luck with them in both RVs (5er and TT) as well as my 2500 Ram.

Balancing beads work great. I've been using them for years on motorcycles. They constantly are keeping the tire balanced and prolong tire life. The little ceramic beads spin to the outer edge of the tire and balance the tire. The out of balance section will get the most weight. The rest spread evenly around the tire.
Traditional balancing works great when tires are new, but after a few miles and potholes the weights May not be sufficient.
All you have to do is buy the beads and an applicator tube. Remove the valve stem and place your beads in the applicator tube. The beads will flow through the applicator and into the tire. Sometimes you must tap on the valve stem, but it's only 5 minutes from start to finish normally. Reinstall valve stem and inflate the tire. This can be done easily with tire on the RV.

I'm very skeptical about the physics of this. It's early in the morning, so I'm probably not thinking clearly, but ...
Wouldn't centrifugal force try to always push the beads to the outermost part of the tire, which, since it is furthest from the axle center be the "heavy" side of the tire, and thus exactly the opposite of where you'd want any weight added ?

I can't explain the ohysics, but, on YouTube there are videos of how they work, using clear bottles to show the beads movements.
I know the use of them prolongs tire life on motorcycles tremendously.
I will be installing new tires within the next few weeks and plan to add beads then.

If you add "balance beads" just be sure you confirm the addition of the beads does not void any tire warranty.

I don't know how: but I can tell you they work . I also have them in my 285 x 70 x 17 E rated truck tires, 2nd set and have been running them now for over 4 years with NO other weights on the tires and they are smooth as silk at least up to 80 MPHs. Have not driven faster than that.

They have been up to 105 on my MC and never a wiggle. Not proud that I had to go that fast to avoid dump truck that was pelting me with rocks, but it happened, once.
I have never heard of anyone having issues with them causing issues unless ocassionally a bead will get in the valve stem when checking air pressure. Then it sometimes is hard to get it out. On the MC I just roll valve stem to down position, that's a little harder on a camper.
Beads take a 10,000 mile MC tire and will get 20-25,000 out of it.

Whoever is selling the beads should inform you of the need for the special valve "filters".. I have heard of "dust" from some balance beads cloging TPM rendering it useless.
