Duro Tires: Any opinions?

Since my tires are now at least 8 years old it's time for them to be replaced (new looking as they may be, they go the way of all trailer tires.)

Friend of mine is setting me up with 4 new Duro ST225/75 R15 E tires. He puts these on most commercial trailers and campers that come into his place.

Any opinions on these?

I had a set of duro tires on my Sabre, traded it at 5 years with no issues.

But not many long trips.

Haven't heard anything bad about Duro's.

I had zero issues with my Duro 2100 radials.

My dump trailer has original 2008 Duro radials on it yet in the same size. They are just about bald, but I'd say they've had a hell of a run. I would put the same tires back on it, but for a trailer that only goes 300 miles or so a year the Duro's are kind of salty. I will likely put cheap China bombs on it next, because it gets minimal miles and there's nothing to destroy if one lets go. Still waiting for a local set of China bomb camper take offs for it!

My previous Wildcat came with Duro tires, Load range D. Drove them 3035000 miles in 4 years and had no problems with them. Stayed at 65 mph and aired to max load. I would buy again, but no one has them in this area.

Warranty of 36 months from date of MFG is reasonable. Will dealer also offer a Road hazard warranty? At what cost? Without road hazard it's all to easy for dealer to claim the problem is the fault of the owner and you end up having to prove yourself innocent.

I find the exception "failure for undetermined causes" a real big loop hole for Duro. To have a valid claim you would need to be able to produce a full engineering analysis.

Be sure you have weight slip and certification documents on your pressure gauge too.

Their web site seems to imply their tire factory is in Georgia but looking at the facility it appears more like a small warehouse for a tire importer.

But I am only guessing based on very limited data.

My current TT came from the factory with Duro ST225/75R15C tires. Although I bought the TT used, they've performed very well. I just replaced them with Maxxis M8008s (only because they are 6 years old), and I didn't notice any difference. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

All this sounds pretty encouraging.

These will be 10 ply rated, at 80 psi the load rating is 2830.

4 x 2830 = 11320 pounds.

The loaded trailer is 7800 on the scales. Minus about 900 on the pin that's under 7000 on the axles. The 10 ply Michelins on the truck are rated 3000 pounds. I don't think I'll have tire trouble! Lord knows I have spent some money trying not to.

My Flagstaff came with Duros, ran them over four years and 18k miles no issues. Changed them out from Class C to D prior to trip to Goshen last year. Have 3.5 k on new ones. Did notice a stiffer ride on tt with heavier tires,

I have Duro's on our 2011 V-Lite. They still have lots of tread at 18k miles but will be replaced next year before we head out for a long trip. This we are just doing some local camping so I see no reason to change them.
