Going From 14" To 15" Tires

Hello All

We have a 2015 Greywolf 26RL, just had a belt separate on one of our stock 14" tires, so considering replacing all of them. We would like to upgrade to 15" tires, but the wheel wheels look fairly tight. Any opinions please !!!

I don't see 15" tires as a Option on this unit, some do offer it! To give a WAG on installing 15" is dependent on several things, Suspension travel/center to center axle distance/Tire OD size/wheel well clearance, above tires, these are some things that must be addressed before spending a lot of $$$! Carlisle makes some nice D range tires in the 14" sizes. If your stock tires are load range C, going to D's might be a good option.

go to the D load range Goodyear Endurance tires...

American made and heavier carcass then China made ST tires for the same size tire...

much cheaper than buying new 15" rims for those 15" tires and by going up a load range you get increased load carrying capacity... plus Endurance are rated for 87 MPH

You can size them and get prices on the Goodyear website... even schedule an install...

upgrade to metal valve stems if you are not there already...

Likely no FR support

We looked at changing to 15" wheels on our mini-lite. FR said absolutely NO support. So we just upgraded from C to D rated tires...Goodyear Endurance.

Aren't Carlisle tires China Assembled with US or Imported Components?
It is so hard these days to keep up with all the legal turns of made in, assembled in, components from...
I guess it comes down to what works and what lasts. Hopefully I get my OEM tires changed out before they fail like so many I see on here reporting.

Carlisle HD in LR D is your best and least expensive way to upgrade. Unless you want to pay GY to be a tire tester.

Kumho 857 is a good D rated 14" tire.

I don't know if this is the right thread to be asking this question but here it goes. Our TV has 20" tires our camper has 14" tires. While driving at highway speeds, 70 mph the 20" tires are rotating at a certain rpm while the 14" tires are rotating at a much higher rpm, how does this difference in rotation rpms affect the life of the 14" tires? Will going to a higher load range help in reducing the wear of the tires and increase the life expectance of the trailer tires or do the trailer tires need to increase in size to get better life expectance? FWIW, we have not had any wear problems so far with the tires...knock on wood!

My FRGW DBB

I am going to change over my tire/rim combo to 15" also. My reasoning is that I can get a load range E tire in 15". All of the past trailers that I have owned have been 15" and I had very few tire problems. I did the measuring and found that the new size will fit and still have almost 2 1/2" cleanence between tires.

My 19RR says on the tag on the side that it had 15" wheels and tires. When I checked after owning it for a while I found it had 14" wheels and tires from the factory. I replaced with 15" 6ply and sold the 14" 4ply

It depends upon the actual tire size the 20 in tires on my nitro are physically smaller then the 16 in on my suburban
Find a tire size calculator I just compared tye 20s on my nitro 701 revs per mile the 14s on the camper 762 the 15s on my enclosed trailer 735
,
The wear ratings of the rubber is what makes the miles not the physical size

That’s interesting...and obviously the chart is wrong. I did a quick search for size charts and this was the first thing that came up.

This is the one I was really looking for. Had it in the Safari reading list but so far down I didn’t see it.
