Goodyear Endurance POP Goes the Weasel

WOW,
Sitting in the campground. Under 400 miles on my NEW GOODYEAR ENDURANCE tires. I hear a sound like air escaping from a tire. Low and behold my brand new Goodyear tire is going flat. We have been parked here for 5 days. No idea why the side wall gave way. Thank goodness we were not on the road. Very disappointed. Nearest Discount Tire is 200 miles away.. I thought I did my homework????

If the sidewall failed, you probably ran it against a curb

Interesting ! My neighbor lost one of his Goodyears after a trip two weeks ago. Got a bubble and it burst in his driveway. He had another one mounted before leaving last friday. He said he's going to run them for awhile and see if it was just a fluke.

Watching.............

The delayed failure is a built in safety feature. Ha ha ha

FWIW I have all confidence in these tires

Yes... it will be interesting to get "the rest of the story."
This is the first reported failure I've read other than one who admitted picking up a nail.

I just got back from a two week, 500 mile trip.

As I stopped for gas, I checked the Endurance tires as I usually do...

One rear tire of a tandem pair looked low, and I could hear a slight squeal from it... air leaking out of the metal valve stem.

I went to look at my TPMS and just as I did the alarm went off at 40#...

When I had the tire serviced by replacing the valve stem, the tire man and I surmised that I probably hit something, maybe a pothole that not only bent the valve stem, but also knocked off a wheel weight. The TPMS sensor was not damaged.

I ALSO do not recall hitting anything, but obviously I did... just so happened I found the problem while stopped for gas. I always circle the gas pump islands wide, so I don't think I hit a curb there...

What good is any tire if you run over or ever scrape a curb . since goodyear advertises the above there should be extra protection . just shows that any tire can go maybe not at the same rate as china bombs but then again the endurance is relatively new so jury is still out . but the way it's pushed on here you would think it's been out for over a decade

That would be a pretty big pothole to reach in a rim and bend a metal stem . so unless your stems stick out past the rim and tire i find that hard to swallow

X2. Seems like it would bend or break the rim, but I am no tire expert.

you seem like a guy that has to see to believe. so I tried to take a picture to prove that the tire guy and I now what I am talking about...

I do recall saying that I had sensors (TST sensors ) on the tires that may account for the extra length you have obviously overlooked...

tough to get a picture but here are two I just took...

I have no other explanation of what would bend a metal stem in the middle of a trip... maybe your interstates are smoother than mine I drive on in OH? And yes I was doing about 62-63 MPH in the slow lane... not nearly as smooth as the left fast lane and the tire stem that failed was on the right where the biggest potholes occur.

They are made in Alabama starting about 2 years ago.

I actually compared the carcass of the take off Westlake tires and the Goodyear tire... the GY was much stiffer when I pushed my weight down on the tire and also much heavier... which gave me confidence to buy them as I felt like they were tougher... I did not buy bullet-proof tires... but I believe they are better tires.

Go to a GY dealer and prove it to yourself!

Only hearing of 3 bad ones so far. Not a bad record in 2 years. The bent valve does not count, no tire failure there.

I found this on a truck tire one day. I never did figure out WTF I did to cause it.
