Goodyear Endurance tires installed - with trailer lift pictures

Last week I posted some photos of the Goodyear Endurance Tires we bought to replace the stock tires on our 2012 Rockwood 2701SS. The stockers have aged out of the safety zone.

Who cares more about your stuff than you do? Nobody! So rather than leave the lifting of my trailer to the tender mercies of a tire store, I took the wheels off at home. Our trailer has a 3" lift kit installed above the torsion axles anb has skirting underneath the frame for the underbelly.

After hitching up the truck for safety I did the lifting with an 8-ton bottle jack and supported the trailer on four 2-ton axle stands while the wheels were off.

Here are wheels, balanced...

With metal valve stems (TPMS-ready)...

And with the trim back on.

I put on a full set of Endurance tires last week. Replaced two year old Marathons with just over 2k miles on them. Where I park my camper on the side of my house it's slightly sloped. When I jacked up the first side, the camper shifted a tiny bit so I took just one side at a time to the tire shop. The only thing I'm looking for out of these tires is peace of mind. Larry G.

Yes we are... doubly so. We have the trailer aid but I think I will also add the bottle jack to my set of traveling tools.

Yours are the same size as mine. Tire buddies!

I'm looking forward to towing with these.

Kinda funny.. where else can you get a bunch of guys(mostly) to show pics of tires and be proud. Even funnier is that I am a little jealous cause I still have Castle Rock and I want something else, even funnier is one has to actually USE the tires to be worried about them.

I installed a set of the Goodyear Endurance ST205/75-R14 D yesterday on mine. Did it one side at a time. Bought the metal valve stems and found out they couldn't fit the Lionshead Lynx aluminum wheels because the valve stem seat is counterbored into the casting. The place that installed them, put in a high pressure rubber one, short but with metal stem and indicated they were good to 85 psi. Something to be said for the steel rims over the looks of the alloy rims. Like others have said the D tires pick up 280lbs load capacity over the Constancy that it came with. What's a little piece of mind worth?

Jeff, If you really want metal stems with your counter-bored stem holes, look into the Xtra Seal #17-428 stems. They are made for this situation.

I use a similar bottle jack to lift my 8315SS trailer. I carry a piece of 1-1/2 inch square heavy wall tubing 8 inches long, to put between the jack and the frame to distribute the weight.

I will have to check all my pressure's, but the all metal stems that America's Tire put on for me seemed to fit my aluminum rims seemed to fit mine fine. Early 2017 production for the Rialto CA plant.

I would not worry about the heavy rubber ones, EXCEPT, I was worried could be damaged by the added weight of my TPMS. Though I have to admit they ran a season and a half on those metal stems with rubber bases.

Can anyone advise if the Turnpike 225.75R 15 E can be mounted on the 8289 WS aluminum wheels? Is changing the valve crucial for 15 more psi?

Crucial? I don't know, but there are certainly a LOT of tire professionals and manufacturers that think it is.

I'd guess that you have never had a stem failure. From past experience I know they happen.

Valve stems are duck-soup-simple to change when mounting new tires, and the expense is minimal, so I can't see why one wouldn't go with the "common wisdom".

Of course, one could simply roll the dice and let us know how it comes out.

Always change your valve stems when you buy new tires, you would also need high pressure stems if you are changing from the C rated your trailer came with, I have the same model

Does buying tires that were just put on the market, without any long term real world reliability info/data available, really give you "peace of mind"?

Personally based on issues I have had in the past with Goodyear tires on my trucks I would be skeptical. Made is USA does nothing for me. These junk RVs are also made in the USA.

They are competitivly/reasonably priced at Tirerack.

Time will tell I guess.

Not necessarily. But a step up from the barely adequate Load Range C tires that my trailer came with does.
