How close is too close?
My original tires were Goodyear marathons 235/80/16E. After my issue with them and hearing all the negative posts, I decided to replace them. I bought Michelin XPS RIB 235/85/16E. I didn't really think about the difference in size. They are actually about an inch taller. So with the two side by side, there is now a gap of just over 1 1/2 inches. Before there was about 2 1/2 inches between the tires. Now I'm a little worried. Put my mind at ease and tell me I'm ok😁. Jerry

You did good to get rid of the MaraBombs ... tragedy would only have been a trip or two away. They serve their purpose for light trailers, but fail miserably on heavier ones. I run Michelin LT's as well with about the same gap ... they haven't rubbed yet even when I checked during a tight parking lot turn.

If they are only an inch taller and you had 2-1/2" clearance, you should now have 2" clearance. 1" larger diameter is 1/2" larger radius if you are talking about tire to wheel well opening.

I am assuming by his comment he meant between the tires, not tire to wheel well opening. 1/2" on both tires would be the 1" difference.

I doubt an xchock will fit between them!
Probably wouldn't before with the GYs either.

Yes but there are two tires. So it would be an inch closer. Jerry

I did state when referencing tire to wheel well, not tire to tire.

Thanks for all of the replies. So even when so even when making a u turn or backing sharply into a campsite it shouldn't be an issue either? Jerry

Ha ha! Yea even when I had the GY tires it was a tight fit. And I was using the older BAL chalks. But when I used them, after we leveled (have the 6 point level) the side that raised the most, that chalk would fall out. So now I just use the yellow chalks. Jerry
