Hi,
I uncovered the trailer yesterday to find the sidewalls on my RoadRider tires were dry rotted and cracked. The tire size is ST205/75R14 LOAD "C" Radial.
I have searched the forums for hours to see most of you guys have many choices on the 15" tires but the 14" are very limited. I want to upgrade to a LOAD range "D" 8 Ply tire and that is what revived this old thread. I have 2 options from what I could find. #1 is the KUMHO Radial 857 or #2 is the Goodyear HMG2020..
The goodyear would appear to be a bias ply.
Does anyone know the difference between the Radial and Bias ply tires and what the difference would be for towing.
We are going seasonal this year so all this will be for 2 tows per season.

Haven't heard of that model Goodyear tire. The most popular Goodyear is the Marathon and it does come in your size. Another popular tire is the Maxxis M8008.

If you are going seasonal, I wouldn't worry about the going to a LR-D tire. You'll have a lot more choice with LR-C. I'd look at a Carlisle Radial Trail RH tire.

If you have to have more load capacity, Goodyear offers a Marathon LR-C with a 1820# rating rather than the standard 1760#.

The Goodyear HMG2020 (Bias ply) is made specifically for U-Haul from what I understand and is a "D" rated tire in my size. (Another member used them, post # 50)
The reason I am looking at the "D" rated tire is probably wrong but the tires always look low or under-inflated at proper pressure. The tires (RoadRider ST Radial) I have now came with the trailer and seem to have way to much sidewall flex.
So far, the choices are Goodyear HMG2020 "D" ($80 each), KUMHO's Radial 857 "D" ($141 each) or the Maxxis M8008 ST Radial BS Trailer Tire "C" ($98) or Goodyear Marathon "C" ($93 each). I cannot seem to locate the Goodyear Marathon LR-C.
Are most of you guys with 14's running "C" load tires. I am just trying to get a good tire for a decent price. Looking for advice from those that run some of the above brands.

My advice is to buy LT - light truck tires vs anything made in China. First thing I did on new 5th wheel was to swap out the tires for Goodyear 14 ply that only had two trips on our old 5th wheel.

I don't think you will find a 14" LT tire that will work. I have the Kumho 857 tire and I find they have allot less flex than the stock tires. One reason I change is because the DW kept on asking if I checked the tire pressure, because the sidewalls flexed so much. A another think is the Kumho's are rated to 99 MPH so at 65 you are not running them at max speed.

I ordered a set of Maxxis M8008 ST Radial BS Trailer Tires today. I will report how they ride in a couple weeks. First trip out will be the first week of May when my seasonal site is ready for us.

Not a "14" inch tire but a 14 "ply" tire. Goodyear makes these.
