That is definitely a drag bar. Had the same problem on my coachman. I took it to a garage and had them scab angle iron on to the drag bars. Never been them after that but I could sure leave some nice gouches in the road when I did drag.

The damage aside, I'd be looking for somewhere else to store it if the grade is steep enough to do this each time I take the trailer in or out.

Congratulations on the new X-Lite. We have the same pieces on our X-Lite and I wondered about them until our first outing. When backing into our spot and going far enough for our wheels to touch the concrete wheel stop, the triangle piece and our sewer pipe cleared the wheel stop. If the wheel stop had been higher, the triangle piece would have scraped first since it and the sewer pipe are the same height above the ground.

That was it's purpose.... it did it's job. Guess that you are going to have to find a new storage facility or talk them in to decreasing the grade on their drive so that you can get in and out without ripping your brand new trailer apart.

My plan is to install drag wheels directly to frame or rear bumper that will be considerably higher up than the triangles installed by Lippert or FR.

I've had this problem several times in my 26dbh. Didn't flatten the triangles but bent them. I guess while we're all talking about this, I've seen in a post several months ago about "flipping the axle?" This might be the wrong term for it, I believe yall called it something else. When you can have the springs moved to the top of the axle, as mine came from factory below it. I've thought about doing this just to get more ride clearance. But still haven't weighed out the full pros and cons.

Thanks for the replies folks! I spoke with the dealer and they offered to fix it for free tomorrow! So, I'm going to pull it out of storage and drop it off tomorrow. I've also made arrangements for another storage lot that specialize in campers/motor homes, etc...

Be careful with these options. Moving the protection device up considerably higher may expose critical components to damage. In the case of the OP, ( see his photo) it could expose the LP propane port to damage. The bumper solution may not work for many units as well as there is little strength in many bumpers. If the drag wheels (mounted on the bumper) it could put a large portion of the RV's weight on the bumper which would certainly damage it or the frame.

I agree with Flybob wholeheartedly.
In this case, these triangular pieces offer some protection but also are flimsy enough to collapse when enough weight is put on them that might otherwise cause damage to the frame.
I would be very cautious installing wheels or some other heavy duty device on a unit with a lightweight frame.
Wheels on a full framed motorhome or some other heavily built unit might be different.

Basically they are designed to collapse to prevent other damage. Replace or repair if you are going to continue using the same storage area. Later RJD

OH I see you wreck just one side. So you cut the corner a little tight and dipped the back end down on one side. Well I would get that cut off and a new piece of angle iron welded on. Probably won't cost you 50 bucks. Maybe have them both replaced with thicker gauge steel. Just make sure they come down to that same level, This will be a lot cheaper than reporting it to your insurance agent. You probably wont meet your deductible and they may still raise your rates. We all had to learn to drive at one time or another. I like the scoop method when turning corners, same method we use to back in a space. Works both ways....

I tried to put drag wheels on the drag bar but they really didn't work. The best solution for me was too have the angle iron welded to the triangle thing. Never bent them after that.

Greetings, Richard from Michigan!
We also have a 2014 C.C. 38FL. We have had quite a bit of trouble with our "new" trailer. How have you liked yours? Any significant issues that you have experienced? Please let us know. Do you just park it for the summer or do you do a lot of travel. Bill Brickey

Hope you can get this resolved easily. I've been there when I was new. Don't be hard on yourself. It's kind of a right of passage.
Flybob is a great resource. Good luck

I would still strongly advice to get your drag bars strengthened with angle iron. You will run into this problem in a lot of places other than where you stored the trailer. Typical places that you will drag would be in and out of gas stations, restaurants and any place where the road dips down before it goes up into their parking lot. At our home resort which is Roaring run resort in Pennsylvania there are deep gouges in the road where everybody drags going up into the campground. This is just a little heads up.
