jacking trailer up

Has anyone used the Camco Trailer-Aid or Trailer- Aid Plus. If so, how well does it work; does it lift trailer high enough to raise one tire off the ground? I have a Windjammer with Dexter torsion axles & thought i would get some advise before spending $60. Also saw a while ago some home made ones on FRF, but could not find them when I did a search. Can't remember who made them, but they looked very good.
Thanks for the help.

I think OC made them, I'm sure he'll chime in...

The Trailer Aid works great! Soooo easy and safe. No jack, stands, crawling around on your knees or getting under the unit, just stick it under the good tire and pull forward [or backward] till the tire is on top. Change the bad tire and pull off the Trailer Aid. Done!
You can change one tire, start to drive away, with the TA in less time than it takes to jack up the unit with a bottle jack and way less effort.
I thought it was a joke till I bought one and used it. I borrowed my friends TA and along with mine, swapped left side tires with right side tires in about 45 minutes. Saved $100 that the tire shop wanted to charge me to do the same job.
They are well worth the price. IMHO Unless you have actually used one, you don't have a clue. I sure didn't.

Make sure you get the one with the pad in the top or you may not be raising your good wheel high enough. They come in two heights. If you need more height, attach a 2x8 board to the bottom.
I thought about building one out of 2x8s layered on top of each other, but the weight of the finished product would have been 3 times the weight of the TA according to my calculations.

That was my thought too. The lighter the better.

I have the trailer aid and have used it. Works great. That being said, at Goshen wad talking to the Dexter guy about bearings etc snd mentioned that I had the Trailer aid. He said he would not recommend them because when you lift the one wheel it puts extra load on the other wheels. He said he uses a bottle jack. But that would still put load on other wheels. There are many threads on how to jack up a trailer. So now what.

I ordered mine for "side of the road" flats. With any luck I will never use it

So what happens when you are driving down the road and you have a flat? Doesn't that put an extra load on the good axle?
It isn't like it is going to be jacked up more than a very few minutes. You do what you need to do in a pinch.

For what its worth, messing with a bottle jack on the sholder of a road leaves a little to be desired. Thats why I bought the Trailer aid.

I had to add a piece of Trex decking to the bottom of mine, because it wasn't quite high enough to lift the tire off the ground. I could have used a piece of 2X6, but the Trex is lighter. Other than that little needed mod, mine works great!
