I have and use a Trailer-aid if I want only one wheel off the ground. Old Coots method for 2 wheels off the ground. My 5er has torsion axles.

lbrjet, this method has worked on my last four trailers with torsion axles and it works just
fine on my 2014 Rockwood 5th wheel. The suspension travel, at least on all of mine was very limited and raising one wheel always lifted the other one along with it. Not sure about
trailers with that large 17 inch spacing between the tires, but it works on mine with standard
spacing.

Your method will lift one tire off the ground at a time, but is not good if you want to take both tires/wheels off the same side at the same time.

Won't work on a unit with the 17" extended space.

Eidolon,
Also new to the 5th wheel world. I just recently did a re-grease of our trailer bearings. If you want to read what I did, I have a thread on Page 2 of this section. 'Super lube bearing system'. I made myself a set of boards w/different size pins from 12" - 5' to use for bearings, flat tire and leveling in a spot. I do have a 12 ton jack also if a little more is needed. Haven't done the two wheels at once yet. Still researching on this site and others. So far, thinking about two 8 ton jack stands on one side at a time. Hopefully I have a couple of years on these tires. Good luck in your research, there is a lot of good information on this site.
