Leaf spring bushings

What’s the best way to remove old nylon bushing and install new bushing on a tandem axle leaf spring suspension ?

My experience they come out fairly easy. I used a socket on an extension and tapped them out. Or if your real careful tap the old one out using the new one.

If they have several miles on them they just about fall out,if they still have 360 contact use a hack saw blade to provide a slit and they should push out easy! Flap sand lightly and install "Lippert Never Fail Bushings"! Use standard suspension bolts! Youroo!!

Thanks. I was looking at the never fail bushing kit with new shackles and bolts. Since I am replacing and up rating the leaf springs due to one of them breaking I figured I would replace everything at the same time. The trailer is only 4/5 years old and has less than 5000 miles on it, I don’t want to do this again anytime soon.

I used an old flat head screwdriver and tapped them out. Used same screwdriver to tap new brass bushings in by putting bushing onto the shaft and let the flat part provide equal pressure while tapping on screwdriver end with hammer. Put on wet bolts and grease.

Are the "never fail" still expensive as hell?

I found a whole kit from e-trailer for $80 that includes two sets of different size shackles, bolts and bushings for a tandem axle. Camping world wanted $104 for a set of basic nylon bushings only.

This is the kit I run and recommend to anyone. The bushings are a bronze alloy and the shackle side plates are really thick giving the unit less movement and side deflection. Also the bolts are wet bolts, meaning greasable.
