Ours are Not welded to the frame either. I see you are a retired Engineer. Youroo!! I doubt your (2014) are attached with weld.

I ventured out (25 degrees F) this morning and crawled under the 5th. As 'OldCoot' said, it isn't welded to the frame. There's an piece of angle iron welded to the frame, and the Axel assembly appears to be bolted to that angle iron. So the Dexter lift kit should work. Thanks for all of your help.
