LionsHead wheel PSI rating

I e-mailed about the PSI rating on the aluminum wheels on my 5er.

Here is her response in the E-mail exchange. Good customer service.

> The wheel is rated with a load carrying capacity and your valve stem is rated for the psi, your 15x6 6 lug wheel can handle the upgraded tire, yes you will need to be sure that you upgrade to a valve stem that an also handle the higher psi of the upgraded tire.
>
> As I am sure you are aware although you are putting a tire on with a higher load carrying capacity, you are still limited to the weakest link in your load carrying capacity which would be your axle, as long as you are not overloading the unit you should not have a problem with the wheel, and as long as you upgrade your valve stems to match the psi of the tire you should not have an issue their either.

That's the same thing they told me when I contacted them.

I've contacted them twice and have been well pleased with their service both times.

I have their 8 lug 16" rims and I had emailed and asked if they would withstand the higher pressure F load range (95psi) and I received a similar response, that the rims would handle it but to make sure the valve stems were replaced with ones that would.

A while back I got a similar response. They don't put a PSI rating on the wheel but they do stamp it with the maximum load. Look at the max load for your tire and as long as it's equal to or less than the stamped value you're good to go up to thePSI on the tire.

BTW, the eight lug 16.5" wheel is good for 3,960 pounds which I think is "G" load at 110 PSI.

Lions Head

The psi rating for the rims are on the inside of the rim You have to remove the tire to see it. Mine was a heavy duty rim on my 5er rated at 110 psi but most are not. Also mine was a 8 lug I believe on 8000 lb axles. If you get a tire rated for 110 psi and run 100 psi you have less carrying capacity and the tire is a waste

Uhhh emm-dee, is that 16.5" wheel a typo perhaps? I haven't seen 16.5 inch diameter wheels on anything in many a year.

Yes, a typo. Should be 6", (meaning width).

I'm not a tire expert by no means, but if you change the valve stem to the bolt in high pressure stem you should be able to run that up to 110 PSI maybe WMTIRE can answer that... Mine are stamped 65 PSI so I was able to move up from a "C" rated to "D" rated which gave me a cushion that I didn't have when I bought it....
