Lippert Travel Trailer Shock Kit Installed

Hi All,

Just got done installing the Lippert Shock Kit (x2) on my Lippert I-Beam Frame today. Took me about 6 hours total over two days doing one side at a time.

We camped down at Galveston Beach last weekend and upon arriving the inside of the TT looked like it had been through an earthquake. No damage, just drawers opened and some things strewn about the floor.

Can't wait to see the difference on the next camping trip!

Good stuff. Be sure to come back and let us know how it goes once you get some miles on.

Looks good. I'm doing the Joy Rider Kit and it states is for shocks to be effective they need be no angled no more than 40 degrees, which yours appears to be about 30 and mine will be also. Keep us in the loop on what your results are.

Hi Scotty, thanks! Yes, no less than 45 degress to be effective for lippert kit. I had to remount one shock as it was just below 45 degress. You will know that it won't work because the shock will not compress or extend (at least any appreciable amount) when cycling the suspension.

I will update after the next trip!

Did you also replaced all your bushings with bronze and a wet bolt kit?

Plus, replacing the equalizer makes a HUGE difference. I just replaced my equalizer with a Lippert Equa-Flex and its great how well it rides now. I can't feel the driveline shock and flex from the weight while stopping and starting, plus the ride is way smoother. THe combination of shocks and a new equalizer would probably work great for you.

Thats next on the list! Though if I'm happy with just the shocks, I will go with an HD wet bolt kit. I wouldn't put what came from the factory on a utility trailer- so cheap!

For anyone that is not a believe in the factory plastic bushings, some of mine were worn through after only using my TT one summer. I have a 6500lb dual axle Coachman that I only bought last June. Just replaced the bushings last weekend and there were worn, mangled, and packed full of rust.

Such low quality for such an important component.

We put the Lipper Shock kit on when we first got our new 320 home. Then off to 7000 Miles's plus another 1000 and haven't had anything come out on the floor. They really seem to work well.

Happy Camper

Well, we are back from our trip and can report that the shocks made a noticeable improvement!

We took all back roads on Friday to avoid rush hour traffic. We went over some railroad tracks and some bumpy roads. Only one drawer slightly open on arrival.

We took the highway home on Sunday and nothing was disturbed on arrival.

Most of the bouncing in the rearview was gone. At the campsite, it was neat watching the trailer tires go over the speed bumps at not seeing the body of the trailer jiggle. The tires just rode up and down them solid.

They seem to be a worthwhile upgrade. I will keep reporting as this was only a 120 mile roundtrip.

Thanks for the report. I am trying to decide if I should upgrade my equalizers. Not sure if I need shocks as we have never had any items disturbed when we tow. Even a few rough sections. I wonder if certain trailers are more susceptible to rough roads.
